WorldCom filed for Chapter 11 protection under the U. S. Bankruptcy Code on Sunday, July 21, 2002. The WorldCom bankruptcy will be by far the largest in U. S. history. According to the Wall Street Journal, the action will "almost certainly" wipe out the investments of share holders.

Unless Governor Ronnie Musgrove intervenes, which seems unlikely, the State of Mississippi will execute a convicted cop killer tomorrow evening at six o'clock. It will be the first state execution in Mississippi in thirteen years, and the first by lethal injection.

Bad news at Black Rock for anyone holding stock in WorldCom. Right now, a share of WorldCom is worth six cents. You might as well say that it is worthless. It is down from a high in the sixty dollar range. Bernie Ebbers, the former CEO who was humiliatingly forced to resign a few weeks ago, stood up in his church in Brookhaven, Mississippi on Sunday and vowed that he never knowingly did anything wrong. Yeah, right.

A federal court has decided that it is unconstitutional for children to recite the Pledge of Allegiance in public schools, because the Pledge contains the phrase "under God," and a federal court has decided that it is just fine for parents to use vouchers from the federal government to send their children to religious schools. Say what?!?

Now, WorldCom can be added to the list of huge companies which have defrauded the public and their investors and destroyed the savings of an untold number of people, who had placed their trust in the company.
